After a hectic couple of weeks I’m now back in the swing of writing my usual game week updates. I’ll start by first saying I’m still delighted with my overall rank. I haven’t had as much time as I’d usually have to make transfer decisions over the past two weeks, as a result, I’m over the moon to still be within the top 1,000 on the leaderboard. I’d go as far as saying this is the best period of sustained success that I’ve ever had playing Dream Team – I’ve never been consistently within the top 1,000 for this length of time so I’m really enjoying the new format and how the season is going so far. It’s also worth noting that I’ve not used my park the bus booster yet, whereas many around me have. This puts me in a strong position to get an even bigger jump on the leaderboard at some point. Not everything has gone my way, but transfers have largely paid off when I’ve made them.
Here is my breakdown of each player:
Sanchez – Chelsea have difficult fixtures ahead but Sanchez is still the third highest scoring goalkeeper on the game. I’ll probably just stick with him for the time being as he’s cheap and scoring well for his value.
Saliba – 10 points from Saliba this week means I’ll certainly be keeping hold of him for Arsenal’s game against Burnley.
Tsimikas – not a good game week for Tsimikas, however, it’s worth having some perspective on him. During the previous 2 games weeks he bought in 20 points, a fantastic return for a player who was valued under 3m when I bought him in. I’ve gained value on him but it might be time to move him on as he may not start at the weekend.
Cash – only 3 points for Cash was a disappointing result. However, he’s another cheap option who has previously consistently bought in points so there’s no need to panic with him just yet.
Alexander-Arnold – he’s returned good points since I bought him in. Frustratingly Fernandes has slightly outscored him so you could argue it was a waste of a transfer. However, it’s hard to trust Man Utd to turn up at the moment and get a result. I’m likely to keep TAA for the game week ahead unless I desperately need to free up funds.
Saka – 21 points, stays in my team. Hopefully only came off as a precaution but I’ll take the price rise from him even if he doesn’t play at the weekend.
Bowen – scored OK this week, shame Ward-Prowse outscored him but longer term you’d imagine Bowen will bring in more points. I’m gald to have the second highest scoring midfielder in the game in my team and he stays for now.
Foden – awful start to the game week with him being on the bench. However, he came on and grabbed a goal and then scored more points in the Champions League. A great first game week in my team. Massively outscored Maddison as well.
Haaland – stays in for the season unless he gets injured.
Salah – quiet week but stays in long term for me.
Alvarez – quiet week and I’m starting to question his place in the team now.
Player watchlist
Trippier – keeps scoring well but does have tricky fixtures on the horizon.
Fernandes – can’t be completely ignored as the third highest scoring midfielder despite Man Utd being awful so far this season.
Johnstone – I’m tempted to switch back to Johnstone to free up funds. He’s matching Ederson for points so far and Palace do have some good fixtures coming up.
Gordon – racking up good points for his value but Newcastle do have some tricky fixtures ahead.
Dalot – keeps scoring well for his value but not sure I trust Man Utd to keep clean sheets.
Doku – doing very well for his value but will face a lot of rotation. Probably not a good time to bring in another City player with a couple of tough fixtures ahead as well.
Plan for game week 12
Game week 12 is a difficult one. City and Chelsea play each other so it’s probably worth avoiding bringing in more City players. Man Utd have a good fixture against Luton but do we trust them to get a result. If I take out Sanchez for Johnstone (Palace have decent fixtures), then I’d have 3.7m to spend on Tsimikas’s position. This realistically leaves me with a choice between Gordon, Luiz, Walker, Eze or Dalot. I don’t think any of them are an ideal option considering difficult fixtures on the horizon for Newcastle and City. I’m going to ponder on this a bit further as I’m also considering losing Alvarez but I’ll be sure to post an update tomorrow or later this evening to confirm.
