Review of Game Week 19

Another half decent game week, but I’m a little surprised I dropped slightly on the leaderboard (less than 100 places). Fernandes was a decent pick for captain as he outscored both Salah and Haaland. I had hoped for a little more from him last night but it didn’t happen. Keeping Alexander-Arnold was another 50/50 decision that went my way. Martinez came straight in with a clean sheet and Gordon hit a big scored. The only real mistake I made was taking Isak out but he didn’t score massively higher than Fernandes. All in all I’m a little surprised that I didn’t make a slightly increase on the leaderboard.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Martinez – happy to keep him, he’s the second highest scoring keeper on the game but is almost 1m less that Raya who’s the highest scoring. This makes him a good pick for me.

Gvardiol – considering moving him on this week.

Timber – another slow game week but I’ll probably hold for now.

Alexander-Arnold – bounced back with 20 points so I’ll keep hold of him.

Kulusevski – Spurs have decent fixtures on the horizon and Kulusevski keeps getting points so I’ll hold onto him.

Mbeumo – with European fixtures kicking back in and a single game week against Arsenal on the horizon it’s time for Mbeumo to go.

Gordon – likely to hold despite no Europe, mainly because he’s going up in value and has Southampton the week after next.

Palmer – will keep for this week against Wolves, not sure about the single game week against City after though.

Fernandes – Man Utd are having a poor season but Fernandes keeps scoring points. With easier fixtures in Europe coming up, I’m going to hold him for now.

Haaland – season long pick.

Salah – season long pick.

Player watchlist

Foden – is scoring well now he’s playing more often. Could be a good replacement for Mbeumo. The problem is I’d need to downgrade Gvardiol significantly to get him in.

Mazraoui – seems like an odd pick BUT if I want to get Foden in and Gvardiol is the one I want to take it, it only leaves me with 3.2m to spend. With Europe kicking back in there could be an opportunity for Mazraoui to pick up more points. Given his value he’s actually done fairly well for points this season.

Rogers – a cheaper option in midfield but I’m not sure he’s as explosive as Foden. Tough fixtures for Villa this week as well. If I did go for Rogers I could effectively afford any defender that I want although I don’t really see any stand out options at the moment anyway.

Maddison/Johnson – I could be tempted by another Spurs player given their upcoming fixtures but Maddison and Johnson do not appear to be certain of minutes at the moment.

Porro – is up there with the highest scoring defenders despite Spurs having defensive troubles. As mentioned above, good fixtures coming up but not sure myself.

Plan for game week 20

I’m not sure which way to go at the moment. If I had to make a decision now, I’d probably go for Foden and Mazraoui, simply to get Foden in due to his recent form. I’m really not sure the punt on Mazraoui will pay off though so it’s a tough call. With the transfer deadline being tomorrow, I’ll take a bit of time to think about it and will publish an update later today or in the morning.
