I’m very happy with how game week 20 played out. The team has climbed to almost within the top 500, with a rise of over 200 places this week. My transfers worked well with instant returns from both Foden and Son. Son in particular was a massive highlight as not many others within the top 1000 put him in – he’s now in only 5% of teams. It seemed like a fairly obvious choice to me as his total points were still on par with other players that have had a perceived good season so far but he’s gone completely under the radar.
Here is my breakdown of each player:
Martinez – 6 points isn’t a great return but good enough.
Gvardiol – I’m not unhappy with 9 points, another one with an OK return.
Timber – 4 points far from ideal but he was taken off on 59 minutes so very unlucky not to get clean sheet points.
Alexander-Arnold – very happy with 15 points, stays in my team.
Kulusevski – delighted with 14 points, stays in.
Foden – as mentioned above, instant returns from Foden but he has high ownership in the top 1000 teams so no real advantage gained (no ground lost either though)
Gordon – not a good game week but tempted to hold with Southampton coming up and then a double game week next week.
Fernandes – Happy to keep, he’s producing regular points.
Son – best result of the week with Son getting instant returns given that his ownership is so low. Helped that Isak and Palmer didn’t do much either.
Haaland – season long pick.
Salah – season long pick.
Player watchlist
Gabriel – I’d love to swap Timber for Gabriel but funds won’t allow it.
van Dijk – again I’d be happy swapping Gvardiol for van Dijk but funds won’t allow it.
Porro – definitely an option but is he an upgrade on Timber or Gvardiol given how inconsistent Spurs are.
Maddison – I could bring in Maddison for Gordon, both have double game weeks next week but I’m still not 100% convinced he’s certain of enough minutes.
Plan for game week 21
I’ve never rolled my transfers over but I’m very tempted to do that this week. Looking at my team and the fixtures head, I’m not sure there’s much I’d like to change. If I was being really picky, I’d take out Gvardiol or Timber for a couple of the players I’ve mentioned above but funds won’t allow it. I could downgrade Gordon but it doesn’t feel like the right move with Southampton this weekend and then a double game week next week. I’m not ruling it out at this stage though so I’ll ponder on it further before making a decision.
