Review of Game Week 23

Review of Game Week 23

GW Points: 130
Overall Points: 2,599
Overall Rank: 86

I held position on the leaderboard during game week 23, which isn’t a bad result by any means considering I’m sat within the top 100 teams. I’d like to keep progressing up the leaderboard but it’s becoming very difficult with a lot of people having similar teams now. I don’t see this as a negative as overall the team is still absolutely flying considering my previous best finish was just outside the top 500. If the season were to end now, I’d be over the moon with a rank of 86. At the same time I’m disappointed that I took Saliba out for Walker given that Saliba got on the scoresheet and his ownership is fairly low now, however, I struggle to regret the move as it made sense before a ball was kicked.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Dubravka – only 1 point again this week. I may switch him to Ederson as City always tend to come good toward the back end of the season.

Walker – disaster transfer really with Walker being benched in the league game and Saliba getting on the score sheet.

Trippier – 5 points wasn’t ideal. May move him on.

Van Dijk – 3 points wasn’t great but I’ll hold for Liverpool’s double game week coming up.

Palmer – another 8 points from Palmer was a decent return.

Saka – glad I stuck with Saka, he’s staying in for the season unless he gets injured. Not sure why anyone removed him when he’s one of the highest scoring players in the game.

Foden – brilliant again with 19 points.

De Bruyne –  very happy with 20 points from De Bruyne, could be a stick for the rest of the season.

Alvarez – not the return I wanted from his first week in my team but City do still have good fixture volume ahead.

Haaland – solid 19 points from Haaland, he stays in my team while he’s injury free for the rest of the season.

Jota – happy with 11 points from Jota.

Player watchlist

Ederson – City were not that convincing defensively again but he’s such good value at the moment that it makes sense to switch to him from Dubravka.

Alexander-Arnold – currently injured but I’d want him ahead of Trippier when he returns.

Salah – will need to come back in when he’s fit.

Bowen – I won’t be bringing him back in this week as he’s not scored well recently but definitely one to consider when European fixtures restart for West Ham.

Plan for game week 24

I won’t make a decision on transfers until closer to the time, however, I could easily roll my transfers this week. I’m fairly happy with my team as it is, when you look at ownership of players within the top 100 or top 1,000 on the leaderboard, I’ve got the template team so really should hold position quite nicely now. At the same time, it does give me an opportunity to swap my keepers. So the chances are I won’t roll my transfers over and I’ll bring Ederson in. The second transfer is more difficult. Palmer has served me well but it could be time to move him on with Chelsea playing City and only having a single game week. I could look at a midfielder or defender from Arsenal, Liverpool, or City as a replacement – as they all have double game weeks ahead.
