In this blog, I’ll examine Spain’s squad with an eye on their performance potential for Euro 2024. I will analyse the Dream Team top player picks for Spain and the predicted lineup, providing valuable insights for making informed decisions when selecting your own team for matchday 1.
Fixtures
Matchday 1: Croatia
Matchday 2: Italy
Matchday 3: Albania
Predicted Line Up
Spain are another team whose line up is difficult to predict with a number of players with question marks against them. However, from the research I’ve done, this is my best guess:
GK: Simon – 4m
LB: Grimaldo – 4.5m
CB: Laporte – 4m
CB: Le Normand – 4m
RB: Carvajal – 4m
CM: Fabian Ruiz – 3.5m
CM: Rodri – 4m
CM: Merino – 3.5m
LW: Olmo – 4m
ST: Morata – 5.5m
RW: Yamal – 4m
Top Player Picks
Grimaldo (DEF – 4.5m)
Quite pricey at 4.5m but appears to be a free kick specialist. He’s had a great season with Bayer Leverkusen and despite his value could achieve a good points total with huge potential for attacking returns.
Rodri (MID – 4m)
Nailed on to start for Spain and appears to be on penalties. He’s scored a couple of goals in his past 8 games and also grabbed an assist. Decent value at 4m if Spain are to go far in the tournament.
Yamal (MID – 4m)
I believe there are question marks against Yamal being fit to start the tournament. If he’s fit and does start he could be another youngster that sets the tournament alight. Not bad value at 4m.
Morata (STR – 5.5m)
Morata can be a little frustrating in front of goal but he’s got a good overall goalscoring record for Spain. With very few options up front, he should get a lot of minutes. Having said that, Spain do have a very tough group and he’s only scored 4 goals in his last 8 games. He’s the same price as Lukaku who has 14 goals and a much easier group so I’d be tempted to look elsewhere to start with.
Summary
Spain probably aren’t the team they were and I’m not liking the look of their opening fixtures. Due to this I doubt I’ll start with any of their players in my team. This could change as we approach matchday 3. If Spain need a result against Albania and look in promising form to go the whole way in the tournament, I could be tempted to look at some of the players. At this stage though, with a lot of players fighting for starting places and a very tough group, I’ll probably avoid them for now.
