Review of Game Week 12

Review of Game Week 12

GW Points: 165
Overall Points: 1435
Overall Rank: 2,139

All in all, it was a fairly decent game week. 6 of my players hit a double figure score and the team climbed slightly on the overall leaderboard. A few months into the season and with my goal booster bonus still to play, I’m very happy sitting just outside the top 2,000 teams. My max captain this week wasn’t a resounding success but it was still worth a punt. Saka wasn’t a popular choice for captain compared to Haaland and Salah so I did end up a few points better off. It could have been worse had Haaland been the highest scoring player of the week but could have been better if he had a really poor week. The gamble on Palmer didn’t pay off either but at least I’ll have him in ready for this double game week coming up.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Kelleher – brilliant week with 16 points. I’ll keep him for the price rise and see what the week brings in terms of him dropping back to the bench or not.

Mazraoui – very happy with 12 points. Stays in my team.

Gvardiol – awful 1 point, almost certainly going to take him out as that’s poor returns for a few weeks now.

Dalot – 7 points wasn’t great but better than nothing. Will hold onto him for now.

Saka – very happy with 30 points from Saka as my max captain.

Rogers – only 5 points from Rogers who appears to be having a dip in point scoring form. Another one I’m considering moving on this week.

Fernandes – not happy with 6 points but every play has weeks like this. I’m keeping him for now.

Garnacho – very happy with 14 points from Garnacho, he stays in for now.

Palmer – disappointed with only 4 points, but this is the risk with Palmer when it comes to single game weeks. I’ll keep him for this double game week coming up but will review after that.

Haaland – not a great week for City but decent points for Haaland.

Salah – another solid 18 points for Salah.

Player watchlist

Timber – I’m going to need a replacement for Gvardiol and ideally want to save some budget. Timber could be a good option with White being out injured. Arsenal look to have a good run of fixtures as well.

Porro – the highest scoring defender of the game week but does cost a little more than Timber. Does have good fixtures this week as well though.

Johnson – keeps scoring well and is now one of the highest scoring players on the game. Could be a good longer term pick as well. Everyone appears to be looking a Pedro or Cunha this week for big returns but Johnson could be going under the radar for those who don’t already own him.

Maddison – another one who is scoring well. I’d probably favour Johnson personally at this stage but he’s worth considering.

Cunha – a player in form with decent fixtures. Is probably only a 1 week punt though but could get big returns.

Jackson – everyone is looking at Pedro with Brighton playing Southampton but not many are looking at Jackson who also faces Southampton later in the week and has scored well so far this season.

Pedro – is definitely in consideration for me with Brighton playing Southampton but again is probably only a 1 week punt. It’s worth noting he’s only on 52 points this season so far due to injury. He’s actually 6th overall in terms of an average points score though.

Plan for game week 13

I’m fairly clear on my options this week and I’m happy with most of my team so it’s a fairly easy decision. I’m going to take out Gvardiol and put in Timber. This leaves me with 4.2m to spend – ruling out Cunha and Maddison from my watchlist above as the only midfielder I’m prepared to drop is Rogers at this stage. This leaves me with Johnson, Jackson or Pedro to choose from. I may as well draw one name out of a hat as it’s pot luck from here. However, Johnson is probably the sensible pick as he’s the highest scoring out of the 3, has decent fixtures and could be kept longer term. Jackson is the risky pick as Chelsea have a lot of options and other players who could score well. Pedro is somewhere in between, he’s got a good average points score and Brighton play Southampton but going forward he won’t have Europe so will be a short term pick. For me, it’s between Johnson or Pedro and I’ll confirm which one later today.
