Review of Game Week 19

Another brilliant game week taking me to the highest position I’ve ever been in the game. I’m sure things can’t keep going my way but I’m enjoying it while it lasts. The Chelsea players I’ve recently bought in really paid off this week with 20 points from Sterling, a decent 13 from Palmer (26 as captain), and 12 from Colwill. I was a bit disappointed to lose Alexander-Arnold and Bowen to injuries, especially considering they both scored well and could rise in value. It looks like they will both need to come out though. I’m going to have to be a little careful not to distort my team too much as I’ll have a lot of players out of my team who I’d want back in longer term – Haaland, Salah, TAA and Bowen. And I don’t want to be stuck with too many players that I don’t want long term like Colwill and Sterling but I’ve got to keep rolling with it while the points are coming in.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Dubravka – very happy with 8 points.

Saliba – another poor week but stays in my team for now.

Colwill – delighted with 12 points given his value. He stays in while Chelsea have extra fixtures.

Alexander-Arnold – would definitely have stayed in my team but needs to come out due to injury.

Palmer – very happy with another 13 points. He’s been a great transfer since I bought him in.

Bowen – pleased with 14 points but annoyed that he’s injured. Will need to take out.

Saka – 5 points isn’t great but I’m going to keep hold of him.

Foden – another 16 points for Foden, happy with his consistent returns.

Sterling – over the moon with a big 20 points from Sterling in his first game back in my team.

Watkins – not happy with only 1 point from Watkins. He’s not been great since I put him in and would have been removed a while ago if I had more transfers.

Nunez – didn’t hit a massive score but I’m still happy with 10 points, especially as he outscored Jota.

Player watchlist

Haaland – he’s coming back in when he’s fit to play. Will always either be on my team or on the watch list.

De Bryune – came off the bench in the FA cup and will be one to monitor as he returns from injury.

Fernandez – should rise in value and has another double game week with Chelsea next week.

Diaz – should get game time across Liverpool’s double game week. Another one to play the fixtures.

Jota – disappointing returns this week but again Liverpool have a double game week and he could score well. Not sure I want to bring in a player who will drop in value though.

Van Dijk – safe option to replace TAA but don’t really want to bring in another player who might drop in value.

Gomez – another Liverpool player who should get a lot of game time with the injuries they’ve got. Would need to be replaced at some point though.

Plan for game week 20

It’s looking like TAA and Bowen will need to come out. As Liverpool and Chelsea both have a double game week coming up it’s hard to look beyond their players – it worked perfectly this week. At the same time, I don’t want to load up on too many of their players as I’ll need to move them on at some point. The safest move would be to simply bring in Jota and Van Dijk. They are the highest owned of the players I don’t have by the top 100/ top 1,000 teams so I’d effectively be avoiding a disaster if one of them hits a big score. I can also see the logic of both players – they’ve got good fixtures and good fixture volume so regardless of ownership, they’d be the stand out options for me anyway. My only other concern is that they could both drop in value, and Bowen/TAA could go up. However, given the position that I’m in, I don’t want to prioritise team value and end up losing out on points (which will cost me position on the leaderboard). I’ll make a final decision later today but I’m fairly sure I’ll go for these two at the moment.

    1. Hi Don, they don’t play this weekend but they’ve made the next two weeks one game week so they’ve still got a double game week before we can make any more transfers.

wondered why it said game week starts on frid 25th
so no point in doing any transfers till then.
