Review of Game Week 25

Review of Game Week 25

GW Points: 165
Overall Points: 2,888
Overall Rank: 94

Another week of roughly holding position on the leaderboard. It’s starting to feel like most people have a similar team within the top 1,000 now so making any progress is going to come down to individual players with slightly lower ownership. In fact, looking at ownership in the top 1,000, I own 10 of the top 11 owned players. The only player I’m missing is Alvarez as I’ve opted for Diaz instead so it’s very fine margins. Foden, Haaland, Saka, and De Bruyne all have over 80% ownership so big hauls from them aren’t going to make much difference to overall rank. Someone like Salah at 53% could have made a big difference this week but unfortunately, he missed out through injury. Another one would have been Trippier who many seem to have taken out.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Ederson – stays in until the end of the season unless he gets injured.

Walker – rotated and only 1 point was far from ideal.

Trippier – another poor return from Trippier. Time to move on I think.

Van Dijk – very happy with 18 points from Van Dijk, he’s another keeper until the end of the season now.

Palmer – 9 points wasn’t awful from Palmer. Could be time to move on with European fixtures kicking back in.

Saka – another keeper for the rest of the season.

Foden – another keeper for the rest of the season.

De Bruyne – rested for the first game but returned in the second for a good 15 points. Probably a keeper until the end of the season.

Diaz – 5 points weren’t great but happy to keep him in with a double game week ahead.

Salah – may have to move him on if we don’t know when he will return from injury.

Haaland – huge score this week, keep for the rest of the season and probably captain most weeks.

Player watchlist

Bowen – could be time to look at Bowen with two double game weeks coming up and a big score this week.

Alexander-Arnold – is currently injured but I’d want him ahead of Trippier when he returns.

Rodri – could be a good consistent point scorer to bring in for the rest of the season.

R. Dias/Ake – for the same reason as Rodri, another Man City defender might be a good option until the end of the season.

Robertson – could be a good way into the Liverpool defence with Europa League fixtures coming up but he could face rotation.

Plan for game week 26

I’m a bit stumped about what transfers to make at the moment. If Salah wasn’t injured, I’d probably go for Bowen and Roberson or Ake for Trippier and Palmer. This would get more European players in for the upcoming double game weeks and Bowen could prove a good differential. However, with Salah being injured, I can’t bring in another midfielder and there are no defenders I’m massively keen on either. Alvarez is a popular choice but he seems to have gone off the boil recently and will only get 3 games (and potential rotation) over the next two weeks, whereas players from Liverpool, Brighton, West Ham and Villa have 4 games. Watkins could be one I’d be tempted to go back to, he’s done very well since I took him out but you can almost guarantee his goals dry up if I put him back in.

  1. Well Paul. Great job done this season. We’re flying. Maybe hold Trippier for another weeks. He hit a bad patch early on in the season when we brought him in and as soon as we took him out, he went on a run! Donno. Same with Watkins. What about young Bradley at Liverpool. He’s playing a stormer at the moment. Could he be an option? Toney at Brentford is chipping away every week. Just a couple of suggestions

    1. Thanks Mick, Bradley is exactly who I’ve gone for. Double game week for Liverpool so it makes sense.

      1. Nice one. Fingers crossed he gets us a good haul for double week! Hopefully Watkins rewards us with decent points this time!!!
