As we are at the business end of the season, game week 31 turned out to be a bit of a disaster. The team dropped around 800 places on the leaderboard, and I really need to be moving quite quickly in the opposite direction, given how few fixtures are remaining. Unfortunately, it reinforces how difficult it is to catch up in this game if you don’t get off to a good start. I’ve found it relatively easy to hold position during the past couple of seasons when I’ve been hovering around the 1,000 mark on the leaderboard. After a few really poor game weeks it’s been very difficult to gain ground back this time around. I also felt a little unfortunate this week that Calafiori and Saka didn’t feature due to injury, then Ekitike went off injured early on.
Here is my breakdown of each player:
Raya – happy with 8 points, stick for the season.
Calafiori – injured, I’ll probably take him out.
Saliba – happy with 11 points, will keep for the season.
Gabriel – similar position with Gabriel, decent score for the game week and see no reason to take him out.
Szoboszlai – 9 points was OK but with Liverpool out of Europe I may look at other options.
Wirtz – 10 points wasn’t too bad for a differential but I’ll be moving him on with Liverpool out of Europe.
Rice – happy with 12 points from Rice. He’s only got a single game week coming up but I’ll hold him with Arsenal progressing in Europe.
Saka – hasn’t featured for 2 weeks now so I’ll probably move him on.
Gyokeres – 9 points wasn’t great but not a disaster either from my captain.
Ekitike – needs to be removed due to injury.
Haaland – hold for the rest of the season.
Plan for game week 32
I’m almost certain that I’ll be taking out Calafiori, Wirtz and Ekitike. If Saka doesn’t look likely to be passed fit, I’ll be moving him on as well. I’m potentially going to go in a slightly different direction for some of these transfers. I’m thinking I’ll go for Williams for Calafiori as Forest progressed in Europe, and he’s scored well across the season. They also play Burnley this weekend. A similar case could be made for Gibbs-White. I’m also looking at Rogers and Sarr. The difficulty is that City and Chelsea have double game weeks, so most will be bringing in the likes of Semenyo, Pedro, Palmer, and Cherki. It’s a choice between going heavy on the double game week in the Premier League this week or setting up for the European fixtures the week after. I’ll probably do a combination of the two, but I’ll confirm tomorrow.
