Bargain players 2022/2023

With player values now released, I thought it was the perfect time to take a look at this year’s bargain players. It’s going to be difficult to accommodate all the big names. As a result, we will all almost certainly need to look for a bargain where we can. I’ve not stuck to strict criteria however, I was aiming for players who are 4m or cheaper who scored over 100 points last season. I’ve also added some cheap options who I think might have a decent season. Feel free to add your own in the comments section below.

Goalkeepers

Lloris (100 points – 3.5m)
Ramsdale (97 points – 3m)
Pope (90 points – 2.5m)

Defenders

Alonso (193 points – 4m)
Chalobah (141 points – 3.5m)
Dawson (114 points – 3m)
Gabriel (111 points – 3m)
Cash (111 points – 3m)
Kilman (111 points – 3.5m)
Konate (107 points – 4m)
Cresswell (103 points – 2.5m)
White (98 points – 3m)
Sanchez (94 points – 3m)
Maguire (46 points – 3m)
Trippier (33 points – 3m)

Midfielders

Saka (160 points – 4m)
Ward-Prowse (140 points – 4m)
Barnes (139 points – 4m)
Jorginho (136 points – 3m)
Benrahma (128 points – 3m)
Moura (117 points – 2.5m)
Tielemans (111 points – 3m)
Smith Rowe (102 points – 3m)
Fornals (102 points – 3m)
Kulusevski (67 points – 3.5m)
Sancho (62 points – 3m)
Coutinho (57 points – 3m)

Forwards

Jesus (179 points – 5m)
Jota (225 points – 4.5m)
Toney (171 points – 4m)
Antonio (146 points – 4m)
Havertz (124 points – 4m)
Richarlison (110 points – 4m)
Werner (108 points – 3.5m)

It’s fairly slim pickings this season when it comes to finding a bargain. However, I have marked a few players who are of particular interest to me in bold above. The stand out player for me is Saka at only 4m and European football in the equation this season. Jesus is more expensive but as strikers go 5m can still be classed as a bargain, with much more game time he could be a good option for the season. I’m also eyeing up Cresswell and Antonio with West Ham having additional fixtures in August.

    1. Won’t be the star man magnet he used to be from the negative press around him now days.

    2. I thought the same – I’m not a fan but he was one of the highest scoring defenders the season before last. Just question Man Utd being consistent again next season, I can’t see them being any better than last season at the moment.

  1. looks like this is going to be the hardest season.
trying to get three decent strikers in is going to be difficult
looking at the prices Kane 7.5ml sahla 7.5ML Haaland 7.0ML
will have to look in the bargain bucket this season.

    1. I agree, where do you think you’ll be looking for a bargain? Midfield areas look like the obvious place to start to me.

      1. think maybe will have to look at new signings
for a bargain price as they usually start at a
lower price. even though they may not adapt
        to our league strait away.

  2. One player that stands out for me as a potential bargain (at least early doors) is Neto of Wolves. Spent much of last season out injured (so I’d imagine he’ll go under the radar of many casual players) but the Wolves fans absolutely adore and rave about him. Add to the fact that he’s classed as a midfielder in the game but will be one of the most advanced players in that Wolves team, then the appeal heightens even further. Good opening half a dozen fixtures too (apart from Spurs away).

I think he’s gonna make my first draft anyways.

    1. Could well be one to keep an eye on and Wolves will have an extra EFL Cup fixture in August.

  3. Tomiyasu is also worth considering for £2.5m in my opinion. Gets forward reasonably well from right-back and I can see Arsenal having a decent season outside of the two big dogs.

    1. Good shout Chris – thanks for putting him on my radar. Looking at the game today, I think we are going to need a few bargain players.

      1. I know you’re not keen on United players Paul, but Sancho at £3m feels like a potential bargain too. He had a little purple patch last season where he scored well despite United’s poor season overall, so if he can show a bit more form like that then £3m could be excellent value.

        1. Also, if Ronaldo does indeed leave as is being touted, then £3.5m for Rashford could be great value too.

As daft as it sounds, I think United as a team would benefit from Ronaldo leaving.

          1. I agree, Maguire at 3m looks a good price as well considering the game time he will get just not sure I can take the plunge on any of their players but budget might mean that I have to consider them.

            1. Yeah, it’s difficult to overlook Maguire at that price. Could be worth a punt for those two opening fixtures before moving on? Might get a decent price rise if United managed a couple of clean sheets in those games.

              1. I’ve just put him in my first draft but I feel like it’s insanity after last season 😂

    1. Yeah app still appears to be down but as many stalwarts will tell you, it’s par for the course when it comes to those who run SDT. The least you’d expect for when the game launches is to actually have the app ready to go as well. To say it’s probably the best FF game it’s certainly the worst run.

  4. There are a fair few Leicester players that are worth considering imo as well. That had a rough old season last time out but a huge injury list had a massive bearing on that. The likes of Justin (£2.5m), Castagne (£2.5m), Pereira (£3m) and Tielemans (£3.0m) all probably come under the “bargain” banner.

    1. Agreed, I think they missed out on this list because they didn’t score well at all last season but surely they improve this time around.
