GW Points: 61
Overall Points: 1,209
Overall Rank: 1,362
Transfers: Lallana Out, Coutinho In
Despite not scoring a huge total with only 61 points scored, the week can be seen as a success. The team has moved up to its highest position to date with an overall rank of 1,362. A result I’m extremely pleased with based on the total number of teams in the competition.
Positives:
Everton’s clean sheet – a big chunk of points scored this week can be put down to Everton’s result against Palace. A clean sheet and a late Coleman goal resulted in 26 points. If you’ve followed our blog in recent weeks, you will have seen my tip for Coleman as the best “cheap” defensive option.
Clean sheet for Foster – having a cheaper goalkeeper means clean sheets and 7+ ratings can sometimes be a little hit and miss. Foster picked up both this week.
Star man for Kevin De Bruyne – KDB recent point scoring form has been a concern. A goal and star man award this weekend can hopefully turn this around with Champions League fixtures approaching.
Potential Issues:
Still no sign of Shaw – Shaw has had no game time for a number of weeks. I’m out of transfers for January but this could be a change to be made in early Feb.
Coutinho transfer – I made the decision to swap Lallana for Coutinho with the Coutinho named to start against Plymouth in the FA cup replay. This did add 5 points to my weekly total, however zero points against Swansea was a little disappointing. Liverpool also have some tricky fixtures approaching.
Another clean sheet for Chelsea – with 13 clean sheets in the Premier League having no Chelsea representation in defence is certainly costing me points. However with all of their defenders being so expensive it’s hard to justify making a transfer at this stage. Costa’s return and goal is also an area of concern.
Tips for Game Week 22
With no transfers remaining for January I won’t be looking to make any changes for the next game week. However keep an eye on midweek fixtures for both Man Utd and Liverpool in the EFL cup semi final return fixtures. There could also be some big points up for grabs with FA cup ties at the weekend. My advice would be to wait for line ups to be announced before making any changes, as team selection can be a bit of a lottery in cup games. Also keep in mind that if you do wait until the weekend both Liverpool and Man Utd players will be locked out from being transferred in or out.
