Review of Game Week 12

Game week 12 was a case of what could have been. My team performed well – however, if I’d not made any transfers I’d have had even more points. Tsimikas typically started, got a clean sheet and a couple of assists. After having reduced minutes in the previous game week it was looking like he might be benched so I took him out when I found a route to getting him out and bringing in Fernandes. This backfired with Lascelles blanking and Alvarez marginally outsourcing Bruno. Sometimes that’s just how it goes though and I’m still delighted with an overall rank of 496 without playing my park the bus booster yet. As I said last week, it’s the highest position I’ve managed to maintain for a period of time since I’ve been playing Dream Team so I’ve got no complaints at all about how my season is going. It’s also worth noting that despite being a few points worse off this week, I am building team value nicely with a good price for Bruno and a drop for Alvarez.

Here is my breakdown of each player:

Sanchez –  kind of still wanting to move him on but not seeing many great options. Bringing in Johnstone this week wouldn’t have panned out well.

Saliba – happy with 9 points from Saliba after a goal at the weekend.

Lascelles – poor decision to bring him in, will probably take him straight back out given all of the injuries Newcastle have at the back.

Cash – looked sheet for a clean sheet but it wasn’t to be. Still chipped in with 5 points which is a decent return for his value.

Alexander-Arnold – happy with 8 points from Alexander-Arnold but either him or Bruno may need to go to allow me to take out Lascelles.

Saka – happy with 7 points from Saka, not his biggest return but he stays in my team.

Bowen – very happy with a goal and 9 points from Bowen. No reason to take him out at the moment.

Foden – another solid performance from Foden, very happy with 10 points and he stays in my team.

Bruno – disappointing return with only 4 points against Luton. Not sure whether to keep him longer term.

Haaland – stays in for the season unless he gets injured.

Salah – delighted with 14 points from Salah, he stays in my team.

Player watchlist

Tsimikas – based on the information we had the logic was there for taking him out but after a big score at the weekend, it could be worth bringing him back in.

Gordon – racking up good points for his value but Newcastle do have some tricky fixtures ahead and are not in the best form.

Dalot – keeps scoring well for his value but not sure I trust Man Utd to keep clean sheets despite not conceding against Luton.

Eze – back from injury and straight into the points, definitely worth considering.

Watkins – after a slow start to the season he’s starting to score well. Could be a good option to save some budget to get Lascelles out.

Plan for game week 13

I’ve not put too much thought into game week 13 yet but it could be a simple case of swapping Lascelles and Fernandes or Alexander-Arnold for Tsimikas and Watkins. This will keep growing the budget and bring in two players who have scored well in the past few weeks. My main concern is Liverpool playing City next but they do have good fixtures after that. I’ll review in more detail during the international break though.
