Dream Team Transfers – April 2017

Dream Team Transfers – April 2017

With the international break over, it’s a good time to look at upcoming fixtures for April and plan any potential transfers in advance. Below I’ve examined the top 7 clubs in the Premier League and sorted them in terms of teams with the best fixtures:

Man Utd (9 games)

West Brom (H)
Everton (H)
Sunderland (A)
Anderlecht (A) – Europa League
Chelsea (H)
Anderlecht (H) – Europa League
Burnley (A)
Man City (A)
Swansea (H)

Ibrahimovic – with 9 games for Man Utd during April it’s difficult to overlook their top goalscorer. He will miss the first game against West Brom but this will still give him 8 games for the month. Should Man Utd progress in the Europa League this will give them more additional fixtures in May. While they remain in this competition Ibrahimovic is a must have player.

Pogba/Mkhitaryan – I’d personally suggest having coverage of Man Utd players defence, midfield and up front due to their additional fixtures. Pogba gets a huge amount of game time but could still be recovering from hamstring injury. Mkhitaryan could be another good option as he appears to rack up a good number of points each time he plays.

Any Man Utd defender – their backline seems to be rotated a lot and this will probably be true for April. However I’d ensure good representation of Man Utd players by including at least one defender. I’d go for the defender who is most likely to get the most game time during the month. This could possibly be Bailly or Rojo with Smalling, Jones and Blind currently out with injuries.

Tottenham (7 games)

Burnley (A)
Swansea (A)
Watford (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Chelsea (Wembley) – FA Cup
Palace (A)
Arsenal (H)

Eriksen/Alli – Spurs have a favourable run of fixtures in April and a fairly easy start to the month. As a result it’s important to get some attacking representation for Spurs during April. With Kane missing through injury I’d go for Eriksen or Alli who have consistently performed well this season.

Alderweireld – with Coleman picking up a serious injury on international duty, I’ll be looking to make a transfer at the start of April. Alderweireld looks like a solid replacement with Spurs having more games than Everton.

Arsenal (7 games)

Man City (H)
West Ham (H)
Palace (A)
Middlesbrough (A)
Man City (Wembley) – FA Cup
Leicester (H)
Tottenham (A)

Sanchez – with 7 fixtures during the month it’s always hard to ignore Sanchez. He’s still the highest scoring player this season and is the only Arsenal player I’d consider having in my team. Due to concerns over his ankle injury and the fact that Arsenal face Man City at the weekend, it may be worth holding fire on this transfer.

Chelsea (7 games)

Palace (H)
Man City (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Man Utd (A)
Tottenham (Wembley) – FA Cup
Southampton (H)
Everton (A)

Hazard – he missed Chelsea’s last game through injury but has been arguably their best player of the season. As they push towards winning the league title and look to reach the FA Cup final, it’s hard to imagine that Hazard won’t finish the season on a high. This could return a good amount of points for April and May.

Man City (7 games)

Arsenal (A)
Chelsea (A)
Hull (H)
Southampton (A)
Arsenal (Wembley) – FA Cup
Man Utd (H)
Middlesbrough (A)

Aguero – with 7 games during April and Aguero in fine goalscoring form he’s likely to stay in my team for the rest of the season. City have a difficult start to the month but have much easier fixtures during May. They could also reach the FA Cup final.

Liverpool (5 games)

Everton (H)
Bournemouth (H)
Stoke (A)
West Brom (A)
Palace (H)

Mane – Liverpool only have 5 games for the month, as a result I won’t be looking to transfer in any of their players just yet. However once they have played Everton, they won’t face another team in the top 7 for the rest of the season. At this stage this still isn’t enough to tempt me into moving for one of their players, but if I was to do so I’d be looking at Mane.

Everton (6 games)

Liverpool (A)
Man Utd (A)
Leicester (H)
Burnley (H)
West Ham (A)
Chelsea (H)

As Everton are out of the FA Cup and have no extra Premier League games for the rest of the season I’ll personally not be looking to make a move for any of their players. Coleman will obviously need transferring out after picking up a horrific injury against Wales. The only player I’d consider is Lukaku who is clearly in fantastic form in front of goal.

  1. Great post – thank you for this.
I’m interested in why you are picking Alderweireld over Walker?

    1. Just personal preference – there’s not much to choose between them and they’ve both scored well over the season. Walker is a little cheaper as well. I’ve had a change of heart regarding the transfer. I’m now going for Rojo based on Man Utd’s upcoming fixtures, bit of a risk as I already have Bailly but hoping it will pay off.

      1. are all the transfers used up now as still got one & dont want to lose it after premierships over as wanna but someone in for the fa cup .. or do we get another 3 transfers at end of may

        1. I don’t think we will get any more transfers. The season finishes in May, the only time we would get new transfers would be the 1st June.
