Transfers: B. Silva out, Mane in

Game week 5 was a much improved week with a decent jump on the overall leaderboard. I’m still no where near where I want to be but it’s at least a step in the right direction. It was good to see the move for Mane pay off instantly with 21 points this week compared to B. Silva only picking up 4. More frustrating was Aubameyang picking up 21 points as well compared to Aguero’s 8 for the week. I’d have probably been better off holding onto Aubameyang but it was impossible to predict that Lacazette was going to pick up an injury resulting in Aubameyang playing more centrally and also in the Europa League. All in all I’m fairly happy with my team as it is and I don’t feel the need to rush into any transfers this weekend so will most likely stick with the team I’ve got for the upcoming game week.

Positives:

Mane came straight in with 21 points. Always good when a transfer pays off straight away.

Clean sheet for Zinchenko in the Champions League.

A lucky clean sheet in the Europa League and an assist against Watford resulted in 9 points for Maitland-Niles. Remarkably this makes him the second highest scoring defender despite how poor Arsenal have been at times. Based on his value I think this is a great result.

A goal each for Mount, Salah, Aguero and Kane.

Potential Issues:

I’ve got big question marks next to Patricio and Mina. However I can’t see a viable way of moving Patricio on. Mina could easily be swapped to James to solve that problem.

Mount took a nasty blow to his ankle in the Champions League. I’d be really disappointed if I had to move him on as he’s been playing well and is great value for money.

Although Kane, Salah and Aguero all scored. I’m still questioning the value of having all three of them. I mentioned Abraham a couple of weeks ago and pointed out that based on his value we should all be rushing out to bring him in. I didn’t follow my own advice and he goes a bags a hat trick. This has just reenforced the point for me. With Aguero being benched in the Champions League as well, I’m thinking this money would be better invested elsewhere – which was my logic at the start of the season. Part of me still believes this is true and with Aubameyang having another good week, I’m tempted to revert back to him as he’s significantly cheaper and may well return a similar level of points.

Tips for Game Week 6

Unless you’ve got an injury I wouldn’t be making many transfers this week. Liverpool and Chelsea face each other which could be a tough game for both teams. Spurs travel to Leicester which won’t be easy. The only two fixtures I like are Man City playing Watford and Arsenal playing Villa. There’s also a round of EFL cup games but selection for those matches is always a lottery. One player I’ll personally be keeping an eye on is Aguero – I’d assume he will start against Watford but if he doesn’t, I could be tempted into taking him out already. Hopefully he starts and the decision won’t have to be made then.

  1. with Abraham and mount as a double up
seems like a no brainier at the moment. putting Abraham in for Aguero
will then give you plenty of funds to out Patricio.

  2. With Jesus playing the full 90 in the CL id say Aguero is about as nailed as it gets this weekend. Jesus will likely come in for the League Cup tie then back to Aguero again next weekend.

I’d be tempted to hold as I can see a reaction from City coming this weekend and the potential for a drubbing against Watford…………..although I did say something similar for that Norwich fixture. 😬😂

  3. @DTT it’s been a decent week and well done on the mane transfer.

I love Aguero, but until Laca returns, Aubu is nailed on including euro games. And yes he’s cheaper too. Which means we can look at Patricia and Mina upgrades.

Only concern with Abraham is he isn’t a proven season points hauler whereas Auba is.

    1. Another potentially troublesome issue with getting Abraham is that he if gets injured or seriously loses form. Realistically you’d probably be looking at two transfers to shift him back out.

With good fixtures coming up though if you’re going to swoop for him (and haven’t yet done so) no worries is probably the time to do it.

      1. Great points as always Chris. I think he also had some off-pitch problems in the past that have led him astray (although I haven’t delved into it), so that’s putting me off too a little.

  4. As previously mentioned, nice timing on the Mane move DTT, i made the same transfer so obviously delighted with his return.

Going forward, Patricio i reckon will need to be addressed soon. He’s murder, like a man down, plus Sun Dream Team doesn’t seem to rate him either which i feel is always key in selecting players.

I still think Ederson is the keeper to come in. With Zink’s gametime questionable with the return of Mendy, i see Ederson as a season long route into that City defence.

Kane or Aguero need to go imo in order to free up some funds. SDT love Kane so although he’s been poor im always confident he’ll return points regardless. Aguero like you say is too expensive to be sitting on the bench although the thought of not having him frightens me.

With the exception of Utd, Auba’s next 10 domestic fixtures alone are seriously worth looking at.

    Decisions, decisions 🤔

  5. Mount has a chance of playing according to Lamps but won’t be risked unnecessarily. I’d guess a benching. Might not be a bad outcome truth be told as it slightly increases the chances of a Liv CS if he does sit this one out.

    Zinc
    AMN

  6. Evening all, been away for the past two weeks so have struggled to find time to contribute on here of late. Feel like I may have turned down a bit of a cul-de-sac with my team as the rest of my man mini league all have Mane and AUB who I no longer own… whilst I’m not super unhappy with my team, any thoughts/suggestions welcome!

    Robbo
    Zinc
    AMN
    Stirling
    KDB
    James
    Mount
    Salah
    Kane
    Aguero

£1.2 ITB & 1 transfer remaining this month.

  7. I get it’s not good aguero being benched dtt but surely we have learned over the seasons barring injury he stays in our team all season.. I think taking Aguero out could be very dangerous.

  8. These ratings are a joke at times. So frustrating, wilson goes from 6.78 to 7.94 and star man after scoring, it’s basically a 13 point goal. I just can’t understand why his rating has good up so much cos a player doesn’t usually get almost 1.2 on their rating for a goal, and yes I did have rico who was star man for a large part of the game, robbed again

    1. I am kinda shocked as well District that Callum Wilson got star man after watching the game last night. I thought Josh King played really well as he really stretched the saints defence but no rating. Strange. Thought he was a good contender for man of the match. Rico was on set pieces so does have appeal but could be been in trouble for raising his hands. Ramsdale looks good and is the number 1 but not in the sun game but their 2nd and 3rd goalkeepers are.

  9. After last week’s sh*t show… Why do we even bother?! Lol Man city killed me last week 🙁 (2 defenders plus keeper) and liverpool defenders arent’ giving me any points either. I’m still sceptical that abandoning defence is the way to go, surely citeh and pool defenders will come good? what y’all think? Abrams has got me worried too… he’s on fire right now but how can I drop Salah, Aguero, or Auba to bring him in?

  10. I agree with people raising concern about bringing Tammy Abraham in. He looks on fire but it will be trouble replacing him if he loses form or gets injured. I also think it’s a mistake removing Aguero. The guy was rotated last season but made up for it with goals in the games he did play. I have a feeling we shall be seeing further braces/hatricks from him this season.

I’m favoring towards getting Aubameyang in some how with Lacatte being out for a while and his price. Aubameyang does score well when playing central and he seems to get time during cup games. Perhaps the funds saved could go towards upgrading Mina and Patricio.

    Thoughts/

  11. Brave move if taking out Kane, Aguero, Salah or Aubamenyang for Abraham as those four strikers can severely punish you.

I brought in Abraham in my team last week, rewarded with hat trick but that was for injured Martial so an easy transfer to make.

  12. Zinchenko not even on the bench. Is it time for him to go now Mendy’s back. If Mendy stays fit. Or I was thinking Mahrez as I have the funds. 🤔

    1. I wouldn’t be moving him on just for today. Personally I’ll be keeping an eye on the situation and making a move if he’s not playing next week. I can’t see him just being forgotten about given the performances he has put in.

    2. So annoying Callum mate as the guy above me in my ML has walker and ederson.

Mahrez seems to be liked by the whoscored system but he doesn’t always start.

Mendy is injury prone. Personally I’m thinking Otamendi.

        1. My team is
          Ederson
          Otamendi
          Zinchenko
          AMN
          Robertson
          Sterling
          Lamela
          Mount
          Kane
          Aguero
          Salah

That’s why I’m thinking get rid. Want Mane in but don’t know how without touching the front three.

  13. Mina out next week, D. James in, somehow need to create funds to doubling up on this City defence, they are back in the groove.

    1. I’m guessing you kept B Silva? I just can’t understand why anyone would given his price and points on the board before this weekend. Everything was saying take him out – and then he goes and scored a hat trick. I’m fairly sure based on probability before the game that Aguero would have been much more likely to score three times yet he only got 1.

      1. Yeah, kept B.Silva. I personally thought he was underachieving and watching Man City’s game he was missing a few chances. I find players that look good on the eye then can tell whether they are on form or not. If players impress on screen, then I put in my team whoever they play for (although I have a major dislike towards Man Utd players – I think they are overpaid lazy players so not very good fantasy football assets except possibly James but the poor lad can’t do everything by himself). B.silva wasn’t playing badly but yeah the hat trick even surprised me and even him (as it was first one). It was a bit of luck but not complaining and long overdue as I have been working hard on my game for a long while. I make most of the good times as I will get my share of bad weeks where everything goes wrong. Two hat tricks for my team in a row – Abraham last week and B.Silva. Going for the hat trick next week. Will it be Kane or Salah or another outsider?

        1. It’s a complete lottery – I’d be ready to throw in the towel if I wasn’t running the blog. It’s just not working out at the moment.

          1. The team is not too bad. A few issues with Patricio, AMN, Mina and Zinchenko but the rest of the team looks good. Nothing like a few transfers would sort out this and next month and I am sure that things will turn around.

  14. Theirs a guy in my mini league on 404 pts, so a lot of soul searching to do, DTT, here’s what I’ve come up with, looking at Arsenal’s fixtures from now till when Laccazette is due back 27/10, very favourable, so are City’s, but Jesus will limit Aguerro’s playing time, in this time period Aubamayang can at least match Aguerro, leaves 1.9 ITB, Mina out 2.5, James in1. 5, these 2 transfers to be made next Thursday nite, to avoid possibly losing funds on Friday morning,
October 4th, 3 new transfers, 2.9 ITB, Patricio out, Ederson in, I’m expecting Patricio to go down next 2 weeks, & Ederson to go up next 2weeks, we just have enough ITB to make it doable, hopefully no injuries next 2 weeks, & Zinchenko to get enough gametime, to summarise these 3 transfers.
Aguerro out, Aubamayang in, flip of a coin pts wise but substantial saving of funds.
Mina out, D. James in, enough said
Patricio out, 1st transfer October, Ederson in, as above.
Replacing firepower with firepower, losing a faltering defender, with young attacking talent, & putting in place arguably one of the top 2 goal keepers into our team, I think only Ottamendi &
Ederson are guaranteed starters in City’s defence for the foreseeable future, if my sums are correct we need to start the ball rolling on Thursday evening, DTT would appreciate your feedback on the options I have put forward.

    1. I like this David, this has been exactly my thoughts on going forward. I just feel its time for Mina & Patricio to be moved on. Im also interested in hearing DTT’s views on this.

My only concern is moving Aguero out for Aubameyang, its very risky & while i do fancy Auba’s fixtures for the forseeable, somethings telling me Kane may be the better option to free up the funds.

Im also beginning to think De Bruyne may return more points than Sterling over the season. He’s outstanding at the moment & i just feel theres less chance of him being dropped.

      Opinions appreciated guys.

    2. Doesn’t sound like a bad idea but there’s a couple of things I could see problems with – firstly what do we do about Zinchenko? If he keeps getting rotated is Otamendi not a better option? Given that they’ve only got one fit senior centre back? Also I’m not sure our funds would be best tied up in Ederson – he’s scored OK but not that well for his value. Is someone like Pope not a good option? There’s a lot to think about but I’m not sure which route to go down just yet.

      1. Agreed DTT, Zink is a risk and Ota is nailed on for some time. Or could we get mahrez?

If we’re looking at players outside our normal top 6/7 teams strategy, then yes Pope looking good or even Fabianski. Also from the bargain basement is Lundstram. He’s down as a mid in DT (def in fpl).

  15. the to top teams in our club league of 86 teams
have 4 man city in one team 5 city players in the other, they are
romping ahead now. so much for not doubling trebling quadrupling up.

  16. Other option I’ve looked at is, last 2 transfers this month,
    Out
    Aguerro
    Mina
    In
    Aubamayang
    Ottamendi
1st transfer October, Patricio out, Pope in approx 0.5 left ITB, leaving the choice of, 3-4-3
    D. James
    Ederson
    Or 4-3-3
    Ottamendi
    Pope

  17. I took zinchenko out for otamendi as falling behind the guys above me in ML and they have otamendi. Bit of a desperate move as I am sure zinchenko will be back soon but I couldnt risk falling further behind ;
    Team

    Fabianski
    Robertson
    Otamendi
    Mina

    Sterling
    Kdb
    Pepe
    Mount

    Kane
    Salah
    Aubameyang

500k in bank and 1 transfer, kane and mina on radar for last transfer possibly kane for aguero or jesus and then in october get mane in for pepe and upgrade mina

  18. Just noticed gents that mahrez is the joint most-games-played for city so far

He also has the 2nd highest amount of assists in the prem

He’s defo gone under my radar a bit

    1. AMN is banned for the league cup game only but I think he picked up an injury as was carried off. Don’t know if serious.

Bellerin is soon to be back so AMN may need replacing although Chambers has come in and seems to be in good form.

      1. Yeah, just hoped to squeeze an extra game or two out of him for this month with no transfers left.

Already having that feeling of dread for next month having to use all my transfers early again (Adrian, AMN, Zinc). Hoping I can get through most of October with Adrian though before Alisson’s back. Also hoping Zinc still gets plenty of game time for the rest of this month.

        1. I am fairly content with my team – good week with 77 points so no major changes to be made. got one transfer left so yeah Zinchenko might be leaving. Problem at city as they have three left backs fighting for one position. Might wait and see if Mendy breaks down again.

          1. Yep, excellent score that mate from a weekend. Nice one. 👍🏻👌🏼

Maybe Zinchenko could be utilised further up the field in future? He was signed as a left-sided midfielder after all. Or is that just wishful thinking on my part?

  19. This is what I’m thinking with my three transfers if anyone would agree or disagree with doing this please let me know.

    Ederson —-> Pope
    Lamela ——> DeBruyne
    Aguero ——>Mane

    Giving me…

    Pope
    Otamendi
    Zinchenko
    Robertson
    AMN
    Sterling
    Mount
    DeBruyne
    Mane
    Salah
    Kane.

    0.1ITB

Then I was thinking Zinchenko to Jesus if zinc loses game time and Jesus is used more. Then have 2.2m to replace AMN when the time comes.

    1. Reckon I’d be going for Tammy over Jesus in that kind of price range. Good fixtures for a player that looks pretty nailed. Plays CL games too.

The three moves you speak of earlier look a big improvement to your team overall.

      1. Cheers Chris I’ll bear that in mind. Hope we have some players playing tonight and tomorrow. 🤞🏻

        1. Some of the City boys possibly, Adrian, possibly Kane? (Out of the possible DT assets most of us own).

Can’t imagine too many more beyond that.

    2. Not sure about losing Ederson and Aguero myself. You’re taking two quality players out and replacing with two quality players but I’m not sure I’d see the long term value in it as it could go either way.

  20. Anyone looking at Tierney or chambers or holding as cheap arsenal alternatives? I know it was only the carsbao cup but good to see them score good points, might get game time in carabo and Europa cups ?

    1. I’ve got my eye on Holding but what worries me about Arsenal defenders is that, with the exception of AMN, they are only really scoring points in the cup games. Which means either they continue scoring points in the cup games but only playing every other week or they get promoted to the first team, play in the Prem games, but not score any points. Granted they could start keeping more clean sheets if Holding, Tierney etc make the “first” team, I guess that is the gamble. Its a wait and see for me, I’ll be happy to get Holding in a few weeks at 2m if he establishes himself and they look like they have improved at the back

    1. I can’t imagine so before the price changes. I’ve got question marks next to too many players and I’ll want to see who is starting at the weekend. Zinchenko might have to go if he’s not playing again. Mina might have to go with Everton playing Man City but I’ll want a decent replacement. Need to put some thought into it after tonight’s fixtures.

      1. I feel the same, there are a lot of question marks despite a couple of decent game weeks. I have a similar team to you DTT so Mina, AMN and Patricio are concerns with no money to spare – one eye on James as as well in the coming weeks. Thanks for all your views everyone, great to have a range of perspectives!

I’m looking at whether Salah to Firmino is an option to then upgrade 2 out of the 3 above.
With no transfers left this month, I am tempted to sit tight until after Oct’s international break then make some changes, with Novembers subs around the corner – thinking well ahead 😊
Also contemplating Kane/Salah to Abraham which will mean I can bring in some of the big guns as replacements for the above 3/4.
        Current team:
        Patricio
        AMN
        Otamendi
        Mina

        B Silva
        Mane
        James
        Sterling

        Salah
        Kane
        Aguero

        1. I can’t say any of their defenders appeal at the moment – have they kept a clean sheet at all yet?

  21. 1 transfer left 500k in bank. The majority of my team have a double game week , transfer wise thinking perhaps Mina out as they play man city , thinking maitland niles ( but bellerin is back ) holding or Tierney as arsenal have 2 games.? Any suggestions?

    Fabianski
    Robertson
    Otamendi
    Mina

    Sterling
    Kdb
    Mount
    Pepe

    Kane
    Aubameyang
    Salah

    Thanks
