Game week 8 was a damage limitation week for me. I had a few players that I wanted to move on but didn’t fancy making any changes before the international break. Havertz was never going to be fit for this week, Davies was likely to be benched and Mahrez wasn’t even in the squad. As patience had been my greatest strength so far this season, I decided to play it safe again and hold onto my transfers. It backfired a little bit this time around as Ziyech would have been the player I’d have bought in for Havertz and he ended up scoring well. Regardless, it’s hard to predict how these situations are going to play out and on another day he might have blanked so I’m not going to dwell on it too much as I’m delighted with the start I’ve made to the season so far.

Positives:

Fernandes picked up a decent 19 points but most people own him anyway.

A late goal and star man award for Kane resulted in 13 points. He’s almost certainly a pick and stick for the season for me now.

Another 8 points for Werner. I compare him to Sterling most weeks, as Sterling is the player I really want so whenever Werner scores more I’m always happy. It’s inevitable that Sterling is going to bag a hat trick at some point and Werner will blank but I’m happy with Werner at the moment.

Potential Issues:

Davies has probably ran his course with him facing the bench for most Premier League games and not coming on for a clean sheet. I could probably afford to get Castagne back or a Man City defender now anyway.

I believe Alexander-Arnold is injured but I’ll probably just swap him for Robertson as a like for like replacement.

Mahrez not even being in the squad means he will probably be next to come out. I’d like Ziyech but I think I may then be too heavy in terms of Chelsea players but he does appear to be a very good option. Barnes is another I’m considering.

Tips for Game Week 9

Game week 9 seems a long way off so I’ll pick up any specifics in the comments section as we get closer to the game week starting. My advice would still be not to rush into transfers and keep an eye on who picks up any injuries over the international break. We’ve got two weeks of European football to look forward to when we return.

    Not my best week.

    I’m thinking of moving on TAA ( Injured ) and William ( Useless )

    Was thinking of putting Robertson/Gomez (or should we swerve a Liverpool defender with Gomez now been injured) in and Ziyech

    It does make my team a bit Chelsea dominated thou.

  3. Well done Paul, a great start for you and with 5 transfers in the bank still! I ended up using two to swap Semedo (bad fixtures and no European matches) for Zouma, and Son (who’s come completely off the boil and I have Kane already) for Werner (now on pens). Gutted to see Chelsea concede v Sheff Utd but another day that could have been another clean sheet (I also have Mendy) and I had my eye on Chelsea’s upcoming & extra fixtures so not too bothered all things considered.

    I countered the above two moves playing patiently with 9 men by keeping both Havertz and Castagne in my team who I’m hopeful will both return to their respective first teams soon after the Int break and will be there for the long term. I will also be closely monitoring TAA’s situation… If he’s likely to return soon after the Int break he may even be a hold for me, but lets see if anymore injuries arise as well.

      as we all no there is a price change every Friday’
      why I signed up to it god only knows.
      next season they want 19.99 ha ha ha cant stop laughing.😂

    1. Should be back for that game on the 28th so only really set to miss one GW (2 games). A hold for me.

    may put him back next transfers.
    everything seems to be going wrong with
    my plans lately, what with A.AR now Salah.
    think I will pick six numbers for the lottery they are
    bound to come in.

    mini league table lots of teams with euro players in it.
    will they be disqualified.

    1. I know RR was talking about putting together a “real-time” league standings with penalties applied for breaking the rules. TBH though, with the amount of rule breaches we’ve seen, it looks like a pretty insurmountable task.

      Might just have to write it off as a bad job unfortunately.

  10. Salah still testing positive for COVID so I don’t know exactly how many games he is going to miss? And Havertz not match fit for the weekend evidently…

    1. Brilliant! Salah’s third positive test today was in Egypt where he’s isolating so I think he could also miss their mid week Champions league fixture v Atlanta as well! Perhaps Jota could be a short term replacement…..

I would say one of the best short-term, ie a week replacements for Salah would be Martial or Rashford, 2 what you would think would be easy fixtures, & with Man utd playing before Liverpool, we will be able to see who is playing down the middle, the Europa league strikers may or may not play, worth checking Man city lineup at the weekend they also play before Liverpool, their is a rumour that Aguerro is due back, or a curveball move, 442 Grealish in, he is out scoring almost everyone & only playing once a week.

    1. My thoughts exactly!! Man Utd play West Brom and Istanbul at home for the GW and those fixtures are just too tempting! Martial or will Ole finally start Cavani? He played both games for Uruguay and bagged a goal!

      Also thinking of Dias for the injured TAA, after spurs this weekend Man city’s fixtures look good and he’d be the least risk of rotation.

      1. I personally think Salah, Trent and Havertz have got to go! With games coming thick and fast they are too expensive not to be earning any points. Theres 4 games again over the next 2 weeks .

        With the Man City turn in fixtures, I’ll be looking to get Sterling in and a city defender. Like Ziyech in for Havertz, shame we missed the boat on this before the break

        Not sure on Robbo with at least 2 second string defenders in the back line. He seems to be more reserved going forward in recent weeks, but may be on more set pieces with TAA out of action

        I dont own Mahrez but I’d have serious doubts regarding him. I think Torres and Sterling will be first choice when we resume.

        I’ve got a spurs defender myself and its tempting to ship. But I’m waiting until Castangne is back fully fit and dier at least isnt injured

        Defo worth keeping at least one transfer back

        1. I’m tempted to do Mahrez to Ziyech just to cover ownership bases. I’m thinking Sterling as well for Salah and I like the idea of a Man City defender for TAA now you’ve mentioned it.

  13. Morning all – had a couple of weeks away from thinking about Dream Team so have missed the previous comments. What’s everyone’s plans for the weekend? Having Salah, TAA, Havertz, Mahrez and Davies who I’d potentially want to remove is a big problem. My thinking is that I’ll just take out players who are definitely unavailable. I’m leaning towards taking Salah out but leaving Havertz in. I’m also tempted to swap TAA for Robertson and leave this for the longer term. If I am forced into these transfers, I’ll probably only make one other between Mahrez and Davies. Mahrez is probably more of a priority – as Davies might skip the difficult fixture at the weekend and play in the easier Europa League game. The players I’m considering bringing in are Mane or Sterling and Zyiech. What’s everyone else thinking?

      1. I’m thinking of holding Castagne and Havertz who are both now back in full training but this weekend might be too soon, but maybe return midweek. Salah and TAA are the two I’m thinking of moving on. I have 3 transfers remaining which keeps one spare and thinking of Rashford/Mane/Jota and also Cancelo/Robertson possibly. Will probably wait for lineups tomorrow before confirming any moves.

  14. I was hoping for something more concrete from Klopp regarding Mo Salah.

    Its anyones guess how long he will be missing. I really don’t fancy using 2 transfers taking him out only to put him back in but it looks like the wise move.

    Thoughts lads? I’m sure everyone has Salah?

    1. Depends how many transfers you’ve got left? Plus it’s only two weeks until we get December’s fresh transfers as well so could be worth it, especially if you nail a player on 2 double gameweek. Facts are he tested positive for a third time yesterday, he’s flying back to the UK today so once he’s tested clear he’ll be able to play again. He’s not showing any symptoms so his fitness will probably not be that badly affected.

    2. Salah has travelled bakc to the uk from Egypt even tho he is positive still. He will be tested again on Sunday but will 100pefcebt miss the Leicester game. If he tests negative obvs he will only miss thta game. Otherwise he could miss the next aswell

    3. I’m tempted to take him out because I’ve got 5 transfers but I’ll bring him straight back in.

  15. I have 2 transfers left. Trent and Salah are my immediate concerns but I wanted to get rid of Mahrez. But obviously the priority is moving on unavailable players.

    Toss up between Rashford and Sterling to replace Salah. Also looked at Jesus but Aguero back in the frame I expect rotation there.

  16. I like them both but Liverpool are slightly depleted at the moment. I favour a short term move for Sterling or Rashford after looking at the fixtures.

    Ill leave it until the last minute before making a move, hopefully some more news breaks regarding Salah.

    Other move is Trent to Dias. City’s fixture really enticing me and I’m going to back them to deliver the points.

    1. C&B I’m seriously consider Cancelo ahead of Dias as is more involved going forwards. Roughly same points on half the games too. Mendy sounds like he is back in training though now but he gets injured so often I can’t see Pep just dropping Cancelo.

      Robertson is my other option. Everyone thinks their depleted at the back but Allison, Robertson, Fabinho, Matip & Milner could surprise us more than we think and doubt many are still holding Pool defenders so could be a slight differential with a clean sheet or two and an assist for example. 🤔

    2. I’m thinking about taking Salah out for Sterling and TAA out for a City defender. I’m also tempted to take Mahrez out for Ziyech – makes me very heavy on Chelsea players but they do have a good fixture this weekend.

  18. Both good options Cancelo looks to be first choice Mendy never comes back for long but do see spurs scoring at the weekend. Liverpool will still keep sheets as well I agree

  19. Yeah I like Cancelo as well but with Mendy and Zinchenko both fit, im pretty sure he won’t start in the premier league and champs. I can see Dias as having more chance of featuring in all fixtures and Ake is also injured.

    Liverpool will always be good options but they cost you more money and for that price you want the in a solid familiar defense imo. I still think Robbo is a good option and I don’t have Chilwell either so its not an easy decision.
